1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Reading Challenge
The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a program started by the 1,000 Books Foundation. The goal of the program is simply for caregivers to read a book, any book to their child, with the goal of reading 1,000 before the child enters kindergarten. The objectives of the initiative are to promote reading to newborns, infants, toddlers, and preschoolers and to encourage caregiver and child bonding through reading.
What is the Grow a Reader program?
Grow a Reader with Your Library is designed to kick start your young child's path to becoming a Reader. With programs designed for ages 0-5, your child will experience interactive storytime and activities on a number of different subjects, including holidays and celebrations. Watch as your child becomes more confident with reading and other related skills before they hit kindergarten.
